The role of assistive technology in online assessments.

Paula Pla,

Educational technologies are reshaping assessments, allowing all students, even those without disabilities, to benefit from tools originally designed to support students with specific needs. After the pandemic, the adoption of digital tools accelerated, such as Learning Management Systems (LMS) and virtual assessment platforms, which not only enable remote assessments but also facilitate the inclusion of students with challenges. The use of technologies like text-to-speech (TTS) and artificial intelligence (AI) is promoting greater personalization and accessibility in assessments, ensuring that all students, regardless of their skills or preferences, can demonstrate their learning in an equitable manner.
