EduTech Cluster launches the WISE project to promote STEM vocations among young women

Noelia Camacho,

On October 14, the EduTech Cluster launched WISE – Women in STEM and Empowerment, an initiative aimed at inspiring, supporting and empowering young women interested in science, technology and innovation. The opening day combined training activities, mentoring and creative challenges that allowed participants to explore professional fields and strengthen key skills.

The morning focused on the route for young women aged 19 to 29, featuring a mentoring workshop designed to reinforce essential skills for their professional futures. Topics included career building, personal leadership and gaining confidence in technological environments.

In the afternoon, the route for girls aged 15 to 19 began with a hands-on immersion in data science. Participants learned about the work of two sector companies and developed a startup creation challenge to address an environmental issue. The process concluded with a final pitch before a jury, where the young women showcased creativity, critical thinking and teamwork.

The project involved numerous mentors and facilitators —including Esther Izquierdo Martínez, Noèlia Millera Gràcia, Carme Bartomeu (Educalm), Marc Tomàs Lorite, Martí Morató Hil, Óscar Costa Román, Paula Berbel Ferran, Verónica Toral Ortega and Noemí Arbiol Rams— whose dedication was key to the success of the session.

Companies such as WATTEGA (ARCbcn & ERF), L’Energètica, Educalm and Alianza por la Solidaridad–ActionAid also participated, sharing real cases, experiences and their vision of the role of women in STEM fields.

WISE began with an atmosphere of energy, talent and motivation, reinforcing the importance of promoting role models, opportunities and supportive spaces that encourage young women to pursue STEM careers. The EduTech Cluster will continue developing new activities within the project to further strengthen STEM vocations among girls and young women.
